Lip augmentation Wrocław: assessment, proportions and safety
Lip augmentation in Wrocław with hyaluronic acid should not start with choosing a “number of millilitres” or a technique seen on social media. The doctor assesses anatomy, facial expression, symmetry, skin condition and expectations in order to plan a subtle change that suits the whole face, and discusses the limitations and risks of the treatment.

What can be discussed during a lip consultation?
Patients use the term “lip augmentation” for different needs. One person wants to define the contour very gently, another to balance proportions, and another to restore volume lost with age. The same approach does not give a good result on every face.
Proportion
The relationship between the upper and lower lip, lip width, tissue support and their relation to the nose, chin and profile.
Contour
Gentle definition of the vermilion border or Cupid’s bow without automatically adding a lot of volume.
Asymmetry
Assessment of differences at rest and during speech. Not every asymmetry can or should be fully corrected.
Volume and tissue quality
The plan may involve a subtle increase in fullness and support. The term “lip hydration” describes an aesthetic goal, not a guaranteed treatment for chronically dry lips.
A photo can help when discussing the expected result
Using a photograph, the patient can show whether they mainly want a more defined contour, more volume or a change in how the lips look in profile. A photo is not, however, a template that can be copied exactly. Tooth position, lip width, lip length, bony support, facial expression and tissue condition differ from person to person. After the examination, the doctor explains what result can be achieved safely with the given anatomy.
It also helps to say what result you would like to avoid
Please tell us directly if you do not want the lips to project strongly in profile, a sharply defined contour, a marked imbalance between the lips or a clearly visible change at rest. This information helps to set the scope of the treatment and is essential for informed consent.
What does a proper assessment for lip augmentation look like?
A filler is a device used in a medical procedure, not an ordinary cosmetic. The doctor should know the anatomy of the area, the properties of the product and how to manage complications. The patient should have time for questions, understand the possible result and know that they can change their mind.
Medical history
Illnesses, allergies, medicines, bleeding tendency, previous reactions, cold sores, active infections, pregnancy or breastfeeding, dental treatment and all previous fillers in the face.
Assessment of the lips and face
Symmetry at rest and in motion, quality of the vermilion, profile proportions, skin condition, scars, migration or irregularities after previous treatments, and how realistic the expectations are.
Discussing the product
The patient should know the name of the product, the treatment area, the expected duration of the effect and the relevant risks. The product should come from a proper source and be used as intended.
Safety plan
Aftercare instructions, a quick way to contact the clinic, how to tell typical reactions from warning signs, and where to seek urgent help outside opening hours.
What if there is already filler in the lips?
The absence of visible volume does not always mean the product is gone. Before another injection, the doctor assesses the contour, tissue mobility, any lumps, asymmetry, migration and the history of products used. If the patient does not know the name of the product, it is worth trying to obtain records from the previous clinic. When the situation is unclear, the sensible decision may be to postpone injection, observe or carry out further diagnostics rather than add another product.
Dissolving previous hyaluronic acid is also a medical procedure. It is not done simply because a patient wants to “start from scratch”, without discussing the indications, limitations and possible reactions. Not all fillers are hyaluronic acid, and not every material can be removed in the same way.
How does hyaluronic acid treatment work?
The details depend on anatomy, the product and the goal. Treatment usually includes documentation, skin preparation, injection of the filler with a needle or cannula, and assessment immediately after the procedure. The doctor chooses the anaesthesia and technique. Swelling right after treatment distorts the picture, so it is not a good moment for a final assessment of proportions.
Plan
Agreeing the priority, the scope and the limit we do not want to exceed.
Preparation
Cleansing the area, documentation and anaesthesia suited to the situation.
Injection
Controlled placement of the product according to the plan, with ongoing assessment of the tissues.
Instructions
Information on aftercare, typical reactions, contact and the date of the follow-up assessment.
More is not always better. If the tissues are tight, previous product is present or the desired change requires several decisions, a staged approach may be wiser than aiming for the full effect in a single visit.
What should the patient receive in writing?
Information on the product used, the date and area of injection, individual recommendations, how to contact the clinic and a list of warning signs. It is worth keeping these records for the future, even if the effect fades over time. They make a safe assessment before the next procedure easier.
Why are aftercare instructions not the same for everyone?
The product, technique, extent of treatment, previous fillers, tendency to swelling and general health all matter. That is why a list of dos and don’ts from the internet does not replace the doctor’s instructions. If a recommendation is unclear or a new symptom appears, please contact the clinic rather than changing the aftercare yourself.
When can another treatment be considered?
The effect of most hyaluronic acid fillers is temporary and depends, among other things, on how the product breaks down and how mobile the lips are. Once healing is complete, the doctor and patient can assess the result at rest, while speaking and smiling. Only then can they consider whether another treatment is needed and what its scope should be.
Room to adjust the plan calmly
The first treatment provides information about healing, swelling, preferences and proportions. The next appointment may be used for maintenance, a very subtle modification or a decision that further treatment is not needed at present.
Staging instead of overloading the tissues
Dividing the goal into stages makes it possible to assess the effect once the swelling has settled and reduces the pressure to achieve maximum volume in one visit. This is particularly important with thin lips, asymmetry and previous treatments.
Keeping harmony with the face
The face changes with age, weight and facial expression. A periodic consultation checks whether the original plan still suits the current anatomy, instead of mechanically repeating the same approach.
What may occur after treatment and when is the result assessed?
After injection, swelling, tenderness, redness, small bruises and temporary unevenness caused by the tissue reaction are common. Their severity and duration vary. The patient should receive specific instructions suited to the product used and the course of the treatment, rather than a random list from the internet.
Assessment in the first days
What matters is even blood supply, skin colour, the level of pain and the direction of change. Swelling alone may be a typical reaction, but unusual pain or a change in colour requires urgent contact.
Assessment after healing
Only once the tissues have settled can the contour, volume and movement of the lips be sensibly compared with the plan. The doctor sets the date of the follow-up. A “touch-up” done too early may respond to swelling rather than to the actual result.
We advise against pressing the lips hard or using random methods of “massaging out lumps” unless the doctor has recommended it. It is best not to plan an important event right after the treatment, as individual swelling and bruising cannot be predicted. If a cold sore, increasing inflammation, fever or discharge appears, please contact the clinic.
When the result is worrying
The first step is to establish whether the problem concerns expected swelling, asymmetry already present before treatment, superficial unevenness, infection or impaired blood supply. Please send the clinic a description of when the symptoms appeared and photos, following the instructions you received. We advise against seeking a quick correction from another provider without passing on the full history.
When the result is more subtle than expected
This does not automatically mean that more product should be added straight away. Once the swelling has subsided, the doctor compares the result with the records and the goal, assesses the tissues and explains the available options. Sometimes observation is appropriate, sometimes a further stage, and sometimes leaving the result without further intervention.
Warning signs after filler treatment
The most serious risk of fillers is unintended injection into a blood vessel or pressure on the blood supply. This complication is rare, but it can damage the skin and, in certain situations, lead to vision problems or neurological symptoms. Reaction time matters.
Unusual or severe pain
Especially if it increases, is out of proportion to typical tenderness or is accompanied by a change in colour.
Blanching or grey-blue discolouration
Pale, grey, bluish or mottled skin around the injection site requires urgent contact with the person who performed the treatment.
Vision problems
Sudden deterioration or loss of vision, double vision or eye pain require immediate medical help.
Neurological symptoms
Facial drooping, difficulty speaking, limb weakness, severe headache, dizziness or confusion are an emergency.
When should treatment be postponed or approached with particular caution?
The final decision is made by the doctor after taking a history and examining the patient. Please do not withhold information for fear that the treatment will be postponed. Postponement may be the safest decision and is not a failure of the consultation.
Active infection or inflammation
Cold sores, a pustular lesion, marked skin inflammation, fever, an oral infection or abnormal healing in the area require assessment and often postponement of the treatment.
Medicines, bleeding and allergies
Please provide a full list of medicines and supplements, any history of bleeding disorders, severe allergies and reactions to anaesthesia or previous products. Please do not stop any medication on your own.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Data on the safety of fillers during pregnancy and breastfeeding are limited. Elective aesthetic treatment is postponed, and the individual situation is discussed with the doctor.
Previous fillers and treatments
Please tell us what was injected, where and when, even if the effect no longer seems visible. Also mention recent or planned dental treatment, infections and vaccinations; the doctor will set a safe date without a rigid scheme taken from the internet.
A good doctor and clinic: questions worth asking
Quality is not measured by the number of photos on social media. What matters are qualifications, knowledge of anatomy, a genuine product, informed consent, the possibility of contact after treatment and a willingness to say “no” when an expectation is unrealistic or the treatment is not safe.
Before deciding
- Who exactly will perform the treatment and what are their qualifications?
- Which product will be used and why?
- What are the realistic limitations of my anatomy?
After treatment
- How can I get in touch if I am concerned?
- Which symptoms are typical and which are warning signs?
- What is the plan outside opening hours?
Records
- Will I receive details of the product used?
- Were photos taken and injection sites recorded?
- When and by what criteria will we assess the result?

How to book a lip consultation?
When booking, please let us know whether this is your first treatment, whether there is already filler in your lips and whether you have irregularities, migration, lumps or other complaints. Not every consultation has to end with an injection on the same day. If the product history is incomplete or there is a problem after a previous treatment, the doctor may plan diagnostics first.
It is also worth coming if you are not yet sure whether you want treatment. A consultation may serve solely to assess anatomy, learn about limitations and compare options. An informed decision made after a conversation is better than pressure to have a procedure at the first appointment. You can return to the decision after calmly weighing the benefits, risks, cost and the alternative of not having treatment.
Before your visit
Please bring information about previous products, medicines, allergies and cold sores. Please do not stop any treatment on your own or take random medicines “for bruising”. If possible, come without lip make-up.
Appointments
See HappyDERM locations, the current price list and the contact page. Eligibility for injections requires an in-person examination; an online consultation does not replace tissue assessment before treatment.
Lip augmentation Wrocław: FAQ
Can I get a very subtle result?
This goal can be discussed, but the scope depends on anatomy, tissue condition and previous products. Subtlety comes from a plan of proportions and technique, not from a promise of a particular look.
Are “lip hydration” and lip augmentation the same treatment?
Both terms may refer to the use of a filler, but they describe different expectations. The doctor should explain what effect a particular product can give and whether dry lips require a separate dermatological diagnosis.
Is the treatment painful?
Sensations vary. Different methods of anaesthesia are used, and some products contain an anaesthetic. The doctor decides on the method after gathering information about allergies and health.
How long does the swelling last?
Severity and duration vary. Swelling, tenderness and bruising often appear shortly after injection but may last longer. You will be told when a reaction is still within the expected course.
When can the final result be assessed?
Not immediately after treatment, as swelling changes proportions. The doctor sets the date of the follow-up and a proper comparison according to the product and the course of healing.
How long does the effect last?
The effect of most fillers is temporary, but there is no single date for everyone. It depends on the product, area, anatomy, lip movement and individual response. The next treatment should not be planned by the calendar alone.
Can treatments be safely repeated?
They can be repeated after a new assessment. The doctor evaluates the remaining product, the tissues, previous reactions and the current goal. The advantage of staging is the chance of a calm assessment, but it does not mean automatic approval for more volume.
Can hyaluronic acid always be fully dissolved?
Dissolving should not be treated as a guaranteed “undo” button. The type and location of the product matter, and additional procedures also carry risks. In the case of an unknown filler, the doctor may recommend further diagnostics.
Do cold sores rule out treatment?
An active cold sore is a reason to postpone treatment. Please also tell the doctor about past recurrences so that the risk can be assessed and the right approach agreed.
Can I have treatment before a wedding or an important event?
It is best not to plan injections just before an event. Swelling, bruising and individual healing are unpredictable, and the result needs time to be assessed. Please agree the date with the doctor well in advance.
Is the treatment performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Elective aesthetic treatments are postponed because of limited safety data. Please inform the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding and any plans for pregnancy.
What should I do if severe pain or vision problems appear after treatment?
This is not a situation to watch until the next day. Please contact the clinic immediately. In case of vision problems or neurological symptoms, call for help on 112.

Treatment results — examples
Below are four comparisons from our Wrocław clinic. The slider lets you compare the appearance before and after treatment. The photos show only the lower part of the face.
The result depends on the initial shape and volume of the lips, the amount of product injected and the individual course of healing. The final assessment takes place after 2 weeks, once the swelling has subsided. More examples: full results gallery.
