HappyDERM services: finding the right consultation, examination or treatment
There is no need to know the name of the disease, the product or the device. The starting point is the problem, the age of the patient and the purpose of the visit. We will direct you to a dermatologist, to an examination of skin lesions, to a consultation concerning hair and nails, or to qualification for an aesthetic or laser treatment.
Choosing the right consultation
A problem of the skin, hair or nails
Itching, a rash, recurrent lesions, scaling, hair loss or a nail problem are best started with a medical consultation and a diagnosis.
Child or adolescent
Age affects the possible causes of lesions, drug dosing and the method of examination. Please choose the visit intended for a young patient accompanied by a guardian.
A mole or a worrying patch
A new, changing or atypical lesion must first be examined with a dermatoscope. We do not remove it with a laser or cosmetically without a diagnosis.
Acne, erythema or hyperpigmentation
First we establish whether the problem is a skin disease, a consequence of inflammation or a sun-induced change. Only then do we select the treatment or procedure.
Wrinkles, proportions or skin quality
An aesthetic consultation distinguishes facial movement, volume loss, laxity and the condition of the skin surface. Each of these goals requires a different approach.
Qualification for the appropriate laser method
The device is selected according to the chromophore, the depth of the problem, the phototype and the capacity for healing. The name of the technology should not be the first decision a patient makes.
Dermatology for adults and children
A dermatological visit serves to take a history, examine the skin and establish the most probable diagnosis. Depending on the problem, the doctor may propose treatment, additional tests, dermoscopy, sampling, observation or referral to another specialist. Not every consultation ends with a prescription and not every lesion requires a procedure.
General dermatology
Consultations concerning inflammatory, infectious, allergic and autoimmune lesions, as well as the scalp, hair and nails in adults.
Paediatric dermatology
Assessment of lesions in infants, children and adolescents, taking into account age, development, body weight, skin care and information provided by the guardian.
Online consultation
This may suffice for an initial assessment of selected problems and for monitoring treatment. Dermoscopy, palpation, procedures and some acute lesions require an in-person visit.
Dermatology for men
Pathways covering, among others, the scalp, facial hair, sweating, lesions of the intimate area, acne and aesthetic concerns, without reducing them to a single male therapy.
Moles and prevention
Examination of a single lesion or of the whole skin, and the decision on monitoring, photographic documentation, surgical removal or histopathological examination.
How to choose a doctor?
Consider the specialisation, experience with the particular problem, the way information is given, the follow-up plan and whether the doctor can explain the alternatives rather than only the name of the procedure.
The most frequent problems patients present with
Acne and its aftermath
We distinguish active inflammation, comedones, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring. Treatment of the disease usually precedes intensive procedures for scars.
Atopic dermatitis, eczema and pruritus
Assessment of the skin barrier, possible allergens, infection and previous treatment is required. Recurrent itching should not be treated with yet another cosmetic product alone.
Psoriasis
We assess the location and extent of the lesions, the nails, the joints, the impact on daily life and previous treatment, in order to plan further care.
Hair loss
The rate of loss, the pattern, the condition of the scalp, diseases, medicines, deficiencies and events of the preceding months all matter. Mesotherapy alone does not replace a diagnostic work-up.
Nails and fungal infection
A nail change may have many causes. Before a long course of antifungal treatment the diagnosis should be confirmed and the skin of the feet or hands assessed.
Hyperhidrosis
We establish the location, severity, onset of symptoms and possible secondary causes, and then discuss topical and procedural treatment and the need for further investigation.
Aesthetic medicine and laser therapy
An aesthetic consultation begins with proportions, facial movement, skin quality, the history of previous treatments and the expected degree of change. A sound decision also takes into account reversibility, healing time, risk, the cost of the whole plan and the option to withdraw. We do not propose the same treatment to everyone who mentions wrinkles.
Facial movement and botulinum toxin
Assessment of muscle action, asymmetry, brow position and the function of the area precedes the choice of injection points. The effect is temporary and requires qualification before each repetition.
Volume and proportions
Hyaluronic acid, a tissue stimulator, refraining from injection or a corrective consultation are different pathways. Anatomy, previous products and the possibility of reversing the effect all matter.
Quality of the skin surface
A peel, Geneo, microneedling or skin care may address different degrees of roughness and dullness. The most intensive procedure does not always give the best balance.
Scars and texture
The type of scar, its depth, colour, active inflammation and the phototype determine whether microneedling, a fractional laser, a combined treatment or observation should be considered.
Micro-plasma and scars
Fractional skin renewal with the Pixel RF micro-plasma handpiece. Post-acne scars, post-surgical scars and stretch marks. Available all year round and in all skin phototypes, including tanned skin.
Firming with radiofrequency
Non-invasive firming of the face, neck and décolletage and contouring of the body. Without breaking the epidermis and without downtime.
Erythema and telangiectasia
First we distinguish a fixed vessel, diffuse erythema, rosacea and an inflammatory reaction. The parameters of the light must match the chromophore and the phototype.
Hyperpigmentation
A sun-induced patch, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation behave differently. Not every lesion may be treated with a laser without a prior diagnosis.
Current prices are published in one place only. See the approved HappyDERM price list. A price quoted as ‘from’ or as a range indicates the span of the approved item; the final choice of area and procedure follows qualification.
What does the first visit involve?
- Booking the right type of visit. Please give the age of the patient, the main problem, the location of the lesions and whether the matter concerns a disease, a follow-up, a mole or an aesthetic goal.
- Preparing the information. Please bring a list of medicines, active cosmetics, allergies, previous diagnoses and treatments. Photographs showing how the lesion has developed can be helpful.
- History and examination. The doctor or specialist establishes the chronology, examines the relevant area and assesses whether additional tests or a consultation in another specialty are needed.
- Discussion of the options. The patient should be told the proposed plan, the realistic goals, the alternatives, the risk, the possibility of no effect, the costs and the rules of follow-up.
- An informed decision. Except for urgent indications, a treatment does not have to be performed on the same day. Questions may be asked, time taken to consider, and the decision brought at a later visit.
For an online consultation, please prepare clear photographs taken in good light, but do not send them through a random messaging application without confirming the channel. If the lesion needs to be touched, or a dermatoscope, sampling or an urgent assessment of general condition is required, we choose an in-person visit.
What to write when booking?
There is no need to make a diagnosis or to choose the name of a treatment. In the contact form please state what the problem concerns, how long it has lasted, the age of the patient and the preferred location. For an aesthetic goal, please describe the change expected rather than only the name of a procedure found on the internet. This allows the right amount of time to be booked and reduces the risk of an appointment with the wrong person.
Before booking it is also possible to check the current HappyDERM price list. The cost alone does not, however, determine the scope of the visit: the extent of the problem, the number of areas, the need for examination or staged treatment may all affect the plan. Reception provides organisational information, while the diagnosis, qualification and choice of management are established by the appropriate specialist.
How to recognise a responsible clinic
A named person performing the procedure
You know who provides the consultation or performs the procedure, what their qualifications are and where their licence to practise can be verified.
Diagnosis and alternatives
The specialist is able to say why a particular pathway is proposed, what other options exist and when the treatment would not be a good choice.
A disclosed product or device
At the treatment you are told the name of the product, the area, the plan and the significant limitations. The documentation makes it possible to identify the product used.
Consent after information
Consent is not a signature at the reception desk. It is preceded by a conversation about the purpose, the risk, the likely healing, the alternatives and the right to refuse.
Follow-up and contact
You know what constitutes a normal reaction, when to send a photograph, when to attend and how to obtain help in the event of an alarming symptom.
Decision without commitment to a package
A series makes sense only after tolerance and effect have been assessed. A clinic should be able to change the plan or end the procedures if the benefit is small.
The patient’s right to information covers the diagnosis, the proposed and possible methods, the consequences of applying or forgoing them, and the prognosis. This standard matters particularly where the treatment is elective and aesthetic: an attractive name cannot take the place of a conversation about limitations.
How to compare two offers sensibly
Compare more than the price of a single treatment. Check whether the consultation includes examination of the problem, whether it is known who will perform the procedure, how the product or device used is documented and what happens after the treatment. A good offer also states the situations in which the procedure should not be performed. The absence of qualification, a promise of an identical result in every patient, or pressure to pay for a series before the first assessment are more important warning signs than less impressive photographs of the premises.
In dermatology, continuity matters: the ability to assess the response to treatment, to modify the plan and to make contact more quickly when an adverse effect appears. In aesthetic medicine, proportions, preservation of function, sensible intervals between procedures and a readiness to forgo the next stage matter just as much. The purpose of a consultation should not be to sell a treatment, but to establish whether an indication exists, what result is realistic and whether the expected benefit justifies the risk, the healing and the cost.
A new patient may ask about the name of the product, the type of device, the person performing the procedure, the alternatives, the typical reactions, the alarming symptoms and the rules of follow-up. The answers should be comprehensible and appropriate to the particular situation. At HappyDERM we want the decision to be made in order: first the problem and the goal, then qualification, then the plan, and only at the end a possible procedure.
HappyDERM: Wrocław, Nysa and Polanica-Zdrój
Wrocław
Dermatology for adults and children, dermoscopy, consultations on hair and nail problems, aesthetic medicine and qualification for selected lasers and procedures.
Nysa
Dermatological and aesthetic consultations within the range available at this location. Reception confirms the doctor, the date and the availability of a particular procedure.
Polanica-Zdrój
Consultations and selected aesthetic medicine procedures. Before travelling, please confirm that the treatment and the person performing it are available on the chosen date.
A single price list applies across the HappyDERM locations, but not every procedure has to be performed at every location and on every day. Reception will confirm the correct place before the visit.
FAQ: how to choose a visit at HappyDERM
I do not know the diagnosis. Which visit should I choose?
That is entirely normal. If the problem concerns a disease, a new lesion, itching, a rash, hair or nails, please choose a dermatological consultation. Reception can help narrow down the type of visit, but the diagnosis is made by the doctor.
Can I book a treatment straight away?
For some procedures an appointment with qualification can be booked, but whether it is performed depends on the examination, contraindications and the current condition of the skin. Where there is a mole, an infection or active inflammation, a consultation must come first.
Will the consultation and the treatment take place on the same day?
This is sometimes possible for a simple procedure with no contraindications, but it is not guaranteed. The patient has the right to receive the information and to decide without pressure to have the treatment immediately.
Do you see children?
Yes, within paediatric dermatology. When booking, please give the age of the child and the main problem. The child attends with a guardian entitled to make medical decisions.
Is an online dermatologist enough?
It may suffice for some follow-ups and for problems clearly visible in photographs. It does not replace dermoscopy, palpation, sampling, a procedure or an in-person assessment of alarming symptoms.
Where do I book an examination of a mole?
Please choose dermoscopy. If the lesion bleeds, grows quickly or changes noticeably, please tell reception. Do not book laser removal of a pigmented lesion without a prior diagnosis.
Does the doctor also deal with hair and nails?
Yes. They are skin appendages and their diseases belong to dermatology. Hair loss or nail deformity may require additional tests, which is why it is best to begin with a consultation.
How do I choose between a peel, a laser and microneedling?
First we define the problem, its depth, the phototype, active inflammation, the time available for healing and previous reactions. Only this information makes it possible to compare the methods.
Are prices the same at every location?
One approved HappyDERM price list applies. The availability of procedures and doctors may differ between Wrocław, Nysa and Polanica-Zdrój, so the particular location is confirmed by reception.
How should I prepare for the first consultation?
Please bring a list of medicines, results related to the problem, the names of products used so far, and photographs showing how the lesion has developed. Please do not apply heavy make-up to an area requiring examination.
When is urgent help needed?
Sudden breathlessness, swelling of the tongue or throat, disturbed consciousness, extensive blistering, severe general symptoms or rapid deterioration require urgent help and a call to 112, not an internet form.
How do I contact HappyDERM?
Please call 573 290 488 or use the contact form. Please give the location, the age of the patient, the main problem and the preferred date.
Standard of patient information
The guidance on preparing for a visit follows the guide Pacjent.gov.pl on making use of a visit. The scope of information before treatment and before a procedure follows the material of the Patient Ombudsman on the right to information. This page helps in choosing a pathway, but does not replace an individual examination.
