Aesthetic medicine results — contents
- Lip augmentation and contouring — 11 comparisons
- Nasolabial folds — 1 comparison
- Closing vessels on the nose — 1 comparison
In every set the slider allows the appearance before and after the procedure to be compared. How such photographs should be read is explained further down this page.
Lip augmentation and contouring
The procedure consists in placing a hyaluronic acid preparation within the vermilion of the lip and along its border. The aim is established individually: for some patients it is the correction of asymmetry or the restoration of the lip outline, for others an increase in volume. The result is visible immediately, and the final assessment is made after 2 weeks, once the swelling has subsided.
Details of the procedure, contraindications and prices: lip augmentation and contouring. The preparations used at the clinic are described on the page dermal fillers.

Nasolabial folds
Deepening of the nasolabial folds usually results from a loss of tissue volume in the area of the cheek rather than from the fold itself. For that reason the treatment sometimes involves restoring volume above the fold, and not merely filling the fold.
Details: dermal fillers — hyaluronic acid and treatment of skin laxity.

Closing vessels on the nose
Dilated superficial vessels are closed with a laser beam absorbed by haemoglobin. The procedure does not break the continuity of the epidermis. The number of sessions required depends on the extent of the lesions and on the diameter of the vessels.
Details: laser therapy and rosacea, with which vascular lesions frequently coexist.

How to read before and after photographs in aesthetic medicine
Before and after sets are useful, but they require the right interpretation. Below we explain what to pay attention to when looking at such photographs — also in other clinics, not only in ours.
- Lighting and framing – the same skin photographed in side light and in diffused light looks different. A reliable comparison is taken in the same lighting, from the same distance and with the head in the same position.
- Facial expression – the tension of the facial muscles changes the depth of the wrinkles. Only photographs taken with the same expression are comparable.
- Time since the procedure – a photograph taken directly after the procedure also shows swelling, which is not the intended result. A fair assessment requires waiting until the post-procedure reaction has subsided.
- Make-up – a photograph “before” without make-up set against a photograph “after” with make-up is not a comparison of the result of the procedure.
- The individual nature of each case – the result depends on the initial condition of the skin, on age and on the course of healing. The same procedure in two patients gives results of differing intensity.
What influences the result of an aesthetic medicine procedure
- the initial condition of the skin and how advanced the lesions are,
- the age of the patient and the efficiency of the skin repair mechanisms,
- the number of procedures performed in relation to the planned series,
- adherence to the aftercare instructions, in particular to sun protection,
- smoking, which limits the blood supply to the skin and slows healing,
- a stable body weight in procedures involving adipose tissue.
When the result of a procedure is assessed
The moment of assessment depends on the mechanism of the method. Procedures based on collagen remodelling require months, not days.
| Type of procedure | First visible result | Final assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Hyaluronic acid fillers | Immediately | After 2 weeks, once the swelling has subsided |
| Skin boosters and mesotherapy | After 2–4 weeks | 2–3 months after the end of the series |
| Collagen biostimulators | After 4–8 weeks | After 3–6 months |
| Thermolifting | Immediately, a transient effect | 8–12 weeks after the series |
| Fractional laser | Once the peeling has subsided | 3–6 months after the last procedure |
| Removal of pigmentation | After 7–14 days, once the crusts have flaked off | 4 weeks after the procedure |
| Botulinum toxin | After 3–7 days | After 14 days |
What photographs do not show
A before and after set shows the result but omits the road that led to it. During the consultation we discuss the elements that a photograph does not reveal:
- how many procedures were needed to obtain a visible result,
- how the healing proceeded and for how many days swelling or peeling persisted,
- how long the result lasted and when the procedure had to be repeated,
- what the total cost of the whole series was.
These four pieces of information matter more for a patient decision than the photograph itself and we present them before treatment begins, not after.
Aesthetic medicine procedures whose results we present
- Treatment of skin laxity
- Skin boosters – hydration and skin density
- Fresh Lift – a combined procedure
- Laser skin rejuvenation
- Removal of pigmentation
- Treatment of acne scars
- Submental lipolysis
Frequently asked questions
Will my result be the same?
That cannot be guaranteed. The result depends on the initial condition of the skin, on age and on the course of healing. During the consultation we determine the scope of improvement that can be obtained in a particular case.
After how many procedures are such results visible?
It depends on the method. With fillers the result is visible after a single procedure; with procedures based on collagen remodelling a series of 3–6 sessions is required.
How long does the result last?
From several months to two years, depending on the method, the area and the lifestyle. We give the expected duration during the consultation, before a decision on the procedure is made.
Are the photographs edited?
Presenting results makes sense only when the photographs are taken in comparable conditions and are not modified. The rules for documenting results are discussed with the patient before the photographs are taken.
May I see the results of the procedure I am interested in?
During the consultation we discuss the expected result in relation to your skin. That is more useful information than a photograph of another patient with a different starting point.
